One Tree Point, Whangarei Harbour
This public boat ramp is part of the Marsden Yacht Club’s facilities and is located on the southeastern shore of Whangarei Harbour.
The ramp features three concrete lanes and is usable in most tidal conditions, although it’s most effective at high or low tide due to strong current flows. It’s essential to have good fenders on board to protect your boat’s hull from the piles. This ramp is better suited for experienced users as it requires a well-prepared crew for efficient launching and retrieval.
Be aware that strong winds from the north or northwest can make using the ramp challenging due to choppy conditions. Trailer parking is reasonably available adjacent to the ramp, although competition for spaces may occur, especially with RVs during busy times.
A public toilet is conveniently located nearby. Additionally, a local general store offers essentials such as bait, ice, and groceries. There are also accommodation options, including a motel and various holiday home rentals in the area.
For fuel needs, both diesel and 91-octane petrol are available 24/7 from land-based and on-water bowsers at the Marsden Cove Marina complex, just five minutes away. The complex also features a bakery, café, marine service center, and the Marsden Cove Fishing Club’s facilities.
Great place for a view or to catch a fish!
Snapper with a rod is not uncommon or you might catch a stingray!
Take a walk towards the Dairy and enjoy magical views and some great little spots to explore.
