Ruakākā Beach is a very long beach that has an anual rod fishing competition hosted by Mai Place. (2nd event in April 2025 – here’s the link to the last. What an awesome day this was! – Mai Place
The Surf Club entrance is the great for families as it is patrolled over summer. (directions https://maps.app.goo.gl/gLLcWDe1RZ1A6ZKR9)
Surfers prefer a different area & Uretiti is for the naturists.
Ruakākā River estuary is an awesome spot for kayaking, paddleboarding etc
